You have enjoyed the summer in your Encino, CA apartment, but now it is ready to put away the flip flops and bathing suits for books and back packs.
Here are some facts and tips that will help you get ready for the new school year.
Encino is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and school starts on Tuesday August 18th. Most schools have orientation, pre-registration and open houses.
According to the district map (but call to check out) the schools assigned to your Encino Apartment are:
Encino Elementary – they have a meet and greet, an open house and kindergarten orientation on their web site.
Gaspar De Portola Middle School – they have a great website with a lot of great resources including an orientation power point slide show and orientation dates per grade.
There are a number of high schools for your district, check out which one is best for your child.
5 Quick Tips on Preparing to Go Back to School
- Start getting into your new routine as early as possible. Set aside at least 3 days a week that you set your alarm and get up and practice your routine. This will help on the first day of school.
- Create a family calendar and post it. Whether electronic or an old fashioned calendar or white board, setting up a calendar that highlights where, when, who for the entire family to see will help keep your family organized. It is a good idea to also have an area where children can post notes, permission slips and other documents when they arrive home.
- Create a study place. It is important that your child or children have a space that makes studying easier. It is ideal if you can make a space that is just for studying, putting books, notes, projects that is out of the way.
- Take a Tour or Visit the School. Most schools in Encino have open houses and orientation, if you can’t make it, then plan a visit at a different time. Either way it is important for the entire family to visit and feel comfortable with the school.
- Plan a going back to school event. Plan a party or a pizza night or a night out. Invite friends that your child will be going to school with if possible or make it a family night. This will help transition from summer time to school time.
These tips will help prepare for the new school year.
